"now is the acceptable time;
see, now is the day of salvation!”
2 Corinthians 6:2
Dear St. Mark Worshipers:
As St. Paul said, “now is the acceptable time, see now is the day of salvation!” It is not tomorrow or someday down the road. God’s kingdom is being fulfilled, right now. It began as Christ offered his life so that we can be reconciled and forgiven forever. The peace of walking with God in the garden had been lost by the fall into Sin, but through Jesus’ gift of salvation we once again can walk with God. His love is being poured out to all people right at this moment. Wherever you are, or whatever you are dealing with, the Spirit, through your baptismal vow is with you, bringing you to that closer relationship with God. This is a peace and hope that can lift you and carry you through life. This relationship of knowing you have a connection with a God of love, that promises you his gift of eternal joy is a comfort and strength that needs to be celebrated. Now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation.
Today is the day to worship and glorify God. Today is the day to return to God in prayer. Today is the day to give thanks for all the blessings you have received. Today is the day to praise the Lord in witness.
For sixteen months, we have been shut-down, online only, limited, restricted, and held back. But beginning this month, we remove the obstacles that held us back from opening our heart to God. Today, we can throw off those hindrances and glorify God with our whole being, mind and soul.
May you feel welcome to once again enter into active worship here at the St. Mark sanctuary. We are now fully open and glorifying God as a church should always be about doing. We glorify God in worship and praise. We glorify God in deepening the walk of the faithful. We glorify God in sharing the love of Christ with our neighbors. We glorify God in telling the Good News to the world. Today may you fulfill that calling of a Christian to glorify God in all ways.
May you enter into worship and praise this day. Now is the acceptable time, now is the day of your salvation.
In the peace and grace of God, Pastor Kirk Griffin
