We Are Collecting School Supplies

On September 10, we will honor the day the ELCA has declared as "God's Work our Hands Sunday" by putting together school kits. Each backpack needs 5 unsharpened pencils secured together with rubber bands, 5 black or blue ball point pens secured together with rubber bands, a pencil sharpener, a 30 centimeter ruler, a 2½ inch eraser, 1 kid’s blunt scissors, a 24 count box of crayons, and 4 seventy count paper spiral notebook. All donations are appreciated and can be dropped off in the narthex box. The Back to School sales are starting soon, so please help us fill as many  backpacks as we can.

Kids, bring your backpacks to church this Sunday, August 13th, and join them with the school kits as we ask God’s blessings on our children and their year ahead along with all those we help around the world through the school kits of LWR.

New Adult Class on Sunday Mornings

Our adult intergenerational Sunday School class continues. It meets from 10:20 - 11:20am and is geared toward teenagers to seniors, men and women. Donna Jones and Martha Howells lead the discussion.

All are welcome to attend.

No previous experience needed.

We even can provide the Bibles.

Community Vacation Bible Camp

This year, Vacation Bible School (VBS) was held July 24-28, 2017, at St. Mark Lutheran church. Children ages  3 thru Grade 6 attended. It was jointly offered by St. Paul’s, York Street, St. Paul’s, Broadway, and St. Mark Lutheran Church.

We want to thank Martha Lippy for leading the Vacation Bible School (VBS) week for another year. We also thank her helpers, Mary Berry, Nancy Bittinger, Linda Bolin, Cayden Jones, Bob Martin, Maria Martin, Barb Wentz, Brenna Yingling and the many volunteers that came over from St. Paul York Street.

We had a wonderful week with around 35-40 children each day. We are pleased to announce that for this year’s VBS offering the amount of $156.89 will be given to Concordia Gospel Outreach.  They will use the money to show the love and mercy of Christ by providing books throughout the US that tell the best story, God's story, to children who have not yet heard it. Additionally, pictures taken at this year’s VBS have now been posted in the St. Mark church office hallway. (pics to also appear here soon...)
